Textual Analysis - Contents Page 2

Q Magazine

This is the contents page for Q magazine. It is set over a double page and consists of various ways to showing what the current issue features.
The pictures on the page do give away what kind of magazine it is. There are images of famous musicians all over the spread. Along the far sides are certain page numbers which the main articles are on. The main image at the centre is the band of the cover artist which makes it quite relevant.
The masthead is on the top right corner as it is on the front cover however in a white background. Inside the 'Q' in the masthead is the issue number of the magazine.
On one side of the page is the page numbers of the cover stories and on the other side it shows what page the regulars are on. This is very helpful for readers as it will make it easier to navigate the through the magazine. It has the artists name in capitals so it is easier to see.
The background of the spread is white which kind of makes it easier to read.

MOJO Magazine

MOJO magazine had two separate contents which I have shown here as joined. The contents pages were in separate places in the magazine. The first page is the darker one which was the first page in the magazine.
The first page is quite simple and only containing the page numbers of the cover story and the features. The background is relevant because one of the feature articles on that specific band, Franz Ferdinand. The colour scheme is quite dark on this page and is also consistent using black, white and red. At the top of the page is the masthead and underneath that is the issue month and issue number. This first contents page is very helpful to guide the reader to the main parts of the magazine.
The second contents page was behind the first one. It is much more informative. It has the page numbers of regulars, 'what goes on' and 'MOJO filters'. This page is probably more appropriate for regular readers. It has a lot of images of musicians who are in the magazine and also a caption on each. At the bottom of the page are photos and information on the issue's contributors. The colour scheme on this page is more brighter using a white background. At the top of the page is the masthead.

VOGUE Magazine

VOGUE magazine has two separate contents pages. The pages are about 10 - 12 pages apart. To get to the first contents page you need to get through a couple of pages of advertisement. This kind of shows that the magazine get payed a lot of money to place these adverts before their contents page which is a very important element in a magazine.
At the top of both contents pages is the masthead and the issue month of the magazine. There is one large image in each page. The images are from spreads in the magazine and there is a caption with the images directing the reader to the specific page of the spread. The first page contents has cover stories, fashion, special features, focus and VOGUE shops page numbers. The second contents page has page numbers of In VOGUE, spy, beauty and regulars. Also it includes the cover look. The first contents page is probably aimed more at one time readers as it hold the information of the coverlines on the cover. Where as the second page is aimed more at regular readers who know what is in the magazine and just want to get to it.
The colour schemes for both pages are consistent in colour and font. They are very simple and the page looks clean and easy to follow and read.
