Costume analysis

In order to gain full effect of what we are representing to the audience and create the suitable atmosphere through visual aspects, costumes of the characters need to be analysed. As we are looking at  a teen drama genre including shots of drug abuse, we looked at costumes of other series which included similar references.

In this shot we see Effie (left) wearing dull coloured clothing. It is a short dress and she has created her own style by wearing a vast amount of necklaces round her neck. Her make up suggests she likes to wear a lot perhaps to cover up her natural beauty due to us being able to see her eyes are dark.

Naomi (right) is wearing a bright coloured flower pattern jacket, with a plainly designed t-shirt underneath. The colours clash but it shows she has her own style. Similarly to Effie, she is also wearing a vast amount of necklaces accompanying her chunky earrings.

This shot includes Katie (left) and Emily (right) and their own style. Some twins like to be similar but this shot shows then as unique as individuals. They dress in a similar style yet wear different clothes. Katie is the flirtatious twin. We can tell this due to her flaunting herself wearing a low cut top with a bright coloured bra, showing her shoulders and chest. Emily on the other hand, tends to cover up more. Here she is wearing a leopard print top that is high cut with a pasty green cardigan covering her arms. Both costumes include bright colours that clash yet is adds to their character and their style, reflecting their lifestyle.

This shot of the boys shows a range of costumes commonly worn throughout the series. It shows a combination of bright coloured jumpers, patterned hats, jeans and plain coloured trousers. 

In the previous few shots we see the shoes of Freddie (left). He wears multicoloured trainers with luminous laces, that are scruffy and dirty. It shows he like his own style and likes to wear different colours in his outfit.

Taking all these factors into consideration, we will apply a similar theme to our own piece of work.
